Re blogging this shit because I'm impressed with the constructive analysis of it. I'm hoodwinked esp. on the "Illuminati" parts.
![]() Upside down, pink triangles were worn by homosexual men in Nazi concentration camps. The reason I feel she uses this symbol in the beginning of the video is to symbolize what the world is like right now, in it’s current state. We still crucify and condemn the LGBT community by stereotyping them with certain labels (metaphorical pink triangles). ![]() The “Manifesto of Mother Monster” begins. This is not Lady Gaga. She is not putting herself on a pedestal here. “Mother Monster,” in this instance, is a metaphorical character for someone we, as a society, need in order to progress. This God-like figure is symbolic for our modern day Martin Luther King JR. ![]() “Mother Monster” begins to give birth to her ideal race, which bears no prejudice towards one another. Obviously, this is symbolic for Gaga wanting her fans to love one another no matter race, religion, sexual orientation, or appearance. ![]() These are the “wombs” of which “Mother Monster” gave birth to. Notice how all of them are identical to symbolize equality. ![]() Meanwhile, in an alternate universe, “Mother Monster” begins to give birth to evil/evil things, such as the gun she will use to protect what she loves. She knows in order to protect her ideal race, she must do so with means that can be considered “evil”. “And as she herself split into two,” Gaga narrates, telling us that “Mother Monster” not only gave birth to evil, but also split from her evil counterpart. This symbolizes the fact that even though someone may seem 100% good, everything has an evil part. ![]() Rick Genest, here, plays “evil” being birthed by “Mother Monster.” ![]() “How can I protect something so perfect without evil,” Gaga narrates as “Mother Monster” is pictured in front of her ideal race with a gun in hand, showing that even those who are considered good, must resort to evil means if they want to protect what is dear to them. This can mean several things, tbh. My immediate thought is how we will go to extremes to protect those we love. You are willing to kill for your family, friends, and lover, no matter how “good” you may be. This could also be Gaga saying that she will do what she has to, to protect her fans. ![]() For the first time in the video, we see Gaga as herself. We know this is Gaga and not the God-like creature she created because of the scantily clad bikini outfit and how she throws up, what she calls, the “international Little Monster hand sign.” ![]() She then walks towards the camera and kneels down to join the fellow Monsters. This symbolizes that she is not above her fans, rather she is just like them. She is not dressed differently and her makeup is exactly the same as everyone else’s. ![]() I feel the dancing scenes throughout the video are nothing more but a celebration of sorts. You have whites, blacks, hispanics, and people of all colours celebrating themselves and who they are. ![]() Every now and then, during the dance sequences, you will see Gaga’s God-like creature pop up on screen, singing some of the key words of the song. The way I see it is that Gaga and the other Monsters are actually below this God-like creature, dancing to her music and practicing what she preaches. Notice how extravagant this God-like creature is compared to the rest of the people in the video. ![]() During the second verse, the evil part of “Mother Monster” appears. We know this is the evil part because she is made up to look exactly like the evil that “Mother Monster” gave birth to. During these scenes, evil “Mother Monster” acts almost cartoon-like, silly, and over the top. Could this be symbolic for the fact that evil people enjoy doing evil things? They are happy with their evil-doings, thus the smiles and silliness of this scene. Evil “Mother Monster” is doing what she can to serve and please the Devil, Rick Genest, who stands there with a blank expression on his face. They even hold one another and simulate what seems to be sexual acts. ![]() As evil “Mother Monster” sings, you see Gaga with her fellow Monsters grouped together, staring up into a light, almost as if they are asking “Mother Monster” to keep them safe from the evil side of her, who is currently singing. ![]() We then go back to the “hive” of sorts, where “Mother Monsters’” wombs are being “incubated”. She is giving birth to more Monsters that will love one another and fight against evil. “Mother Monster” is answering Gaga and the other Monsters’ prayers by creating more Little Monsters. ![]() In return, Gaga and her fellow Monsters celebrate. ![]() During the bridge, “Mother Monster” flashes throughout the scenes with her gun in hand. She is ready to protect her Monsters if evil decides to show up again. ![]() During the LGBT verse, arguable the most important part, Gaga and her fellow Monsters roll around in what seems to be the same fluid that came out of “Mother Monster” when she was giving birth to them. Is this symbolic for them being in the womb together, that we all came from the same place? Instead of putting emphasis on LGBT people, like so many wanted, she decided to treat them no differently from the rest of the group, showing that we are, indeed, equal. ![]() Soon after that, evil “Mother Monster” appears again. However, something is different… Gaga and her fellow Monsters don’t seem to care. They continue with their dancing without seeming to ask “Mother Monster” for help. ![]() Did good prevail over evil because Gaga and her fellow Monsters stuck with one another? ![]() Near the end, we have the blatant odes to Michael Jackson and Madonna. Not only did these two pave the way for artists like Gaga, they both embody/ied the message Gaga is trying to send. Both MJ and Madonna have done so much for self-expression, self-love, the LGBT community, and humanity itself. Gaga sheds a tear because she knows Madonna is about to die and she will take over her throne as “Queen of Pop” (small joke). The tear could represent the struggles we still need to face in order to become the world we need to become. ![]() Unlike the beginning, the ending triangle is right side up. The gay community took the upside down triangle that represented homosexuals in Nazi concentration camps, turned it right side up, and used it as a symbol for gay rights and gay pride. This could represent that we are on our way toward equality. ![]() However, cartoonish, evil “Mother Monster” pops up to remind us that we still have a long ways to go and that we must continue to fight evil if we want to eventually reach our ultimate goal: equality. PRETTY ACCURATE ISN'T IT?
